Welcome to a New Beginning

Previously, I used this mailing list for occasional updates and club communications. Now, I’m excited to introduce a consistent monthly newsletter called “Practicing Photography.” The name is intentionally broad, allowing me to share it with a wider audience beyond the club. This newsletter is designed to spark creativity and foster communication within our photography community. Feel free to share it with any enthusiast or someone eager to learn more about photography. Each month, I’ll include various challenges to inspire your growth. To kick things off, this month’s newsletter features a photo tip and four challenges for you to complete. Share your photos with me, and with your permission, I may feature them in future newsletters. Let’s get creative together!

Photo Tip: Learn The Exposure Triangle

The exposure triangle is one of the most essential and frequently asked-about topics in photography. Understanding it can significantly elevate your skills. I'll be diving deeper into this in future content, but for now, check out my blog for more details!

Four Week Challenge

Here are some fun challenges to help you get back on track and spark your creativity! Feel free to tackle them in any order that inspires you and send me your photos once you’ve completed them—I’d love to see how you bring these ideas to life!

Week 1: Just Get Out and Shoot
No rules, no boundaries—just grab your camera and start shooting. The goal is to get creative and have fun!

Week 2: Minimalist Composition
Create an image with a single subject and minimal distractions. Focus on simplicity and let your subject stand out.

Week 3: Aperture Priority
Use the lowest aperture your lens allows to create depth by blurring the background and keeping your subject in sharp focus.

Week 4: Shutter Priority
Experiment with motion! Use a fast shutter speed to freeze action or a slow one to capture motion blur. Either way, it’s a fun way to explore photography.
